Allergy Sniffles and What You Can Do About Them

Spring is one of the worst seasons for allergy suffers. During the spring season, grass and pollen can wreak havoc on the respiratory system as well as sinuses. From sneezing and watery eyes to respiratory issues, seasonal allergies are no fun during the spring months. Learn how to fight seasonal allergies to feel better as the seasons changes. Here are a few tips to get you started battling your allergy issues.

Avoid Drying Clothing Outside

While you may like using the sunshine to dry sheets and clothing, allergy sufferers should avoid doing so. Pollen likes to stick to fabric so allowing your items to dry outside can bring pollen into your home. You could be miserable during sleep as well as when wearing such clothing that can aggravate your allergies. Stick to drying clothing indoors so you can avoid any allergy flare-ups.

Use a Dehumidifier

Another option is to use a dehumidifier in the home to keep the air dry. The higher the moisture content in the home, the worse your allergies will be. Dust mites like to live in moist indoor conditions, which can lead to allergy issues. Use a dehumidifier to keep the air dry in the home to avoid creating a breeding ground for dust mites.

Install a HEPA Filter

A HEPA or High-Efficiency Particle Arresting filter cleans the air and removes dust, pet dander, mold and other triggers that can cause allergy flare-ups. By installing this triple filter, you will be able to have cleaner indoor air quality in the home which will lead to fewer allergy issues. By installing this filter type, you should be able to tell a difference in the comfort of your home regarding allergy symptoms. Remember to change the filter on a regular basis to avoid major allergy issues.

Avoid Running During Peak Pollen Times

If you run on a daily basis and suffer from allergies, it is important to avoid outdoor jogging during peak pollen times. This can be early morning or late evening. The trees and grasses can have high pollen counts during these times and cause allergy flare-ups. Windy days can also pose a problem. If you must run, consider using a mask or going to the gym to avoid heavy breathing outside when pollen counts are high. The American Academy of Allergy Asthma & Immunology tracks pollen and spore levels daily.  Bookmark this website to check levels daily.   https://bit.ly/2J4sjrW

If you follow these tips and consult with your physician, you can find out what you need to do to protect yourself during allergy season. Stay proactive and you will be able to see a decrease in allergy symptoms over time, helping you to lead a healthier and happier lifestyle
